My fiance and I are considering donating to a local animal shelter instead of giving favors. We would put nice cards on the table in calligraphy writing announcing that we have given to the shelter in their name. Is this a good idea or do guest expect to have favors?

Belinda- I think that it is a very nice idea. You might want to consider getting some pictures from the shelter and put photos of the animals on the table to show guests some of the animals that you are helping. Animal shelters are always in need of help. It might encourage others to give to the organization as well. As a side note there is a wonderful website www.petfinder.org that lists local humane societies and rescue groups available animals for adoption. You can view by breed, gender or age. We got our cats through using this website.

I think that is a great idea. We are having favors, but we signed up with an charity organization that has a wedding registry. Its called Justgive.org and it lists 1000's of charities and many of them can be added to your wedding registry. We are also registered at Macy's and Target, but we thought this added a nice option.
