This is my first post. I was wondering what types of decorations that everyone is using at the church. My church is fairly small, but has some beautiful stained glass windows on the sides. The altar is fairly plain. I don't want to spend a ton of money on the church decorations, but I would like to do a little bit of something. Any ideas out there? Thanks, Barbara

First, you want to ask the church what if any restrictions they have on decorations. Some of them are very strict on that and don't really allow any extra decorations. So I suggest asking them before you go and spend a bunch of money. You could ask your florist to design an arrangement for the altar and put a few pew bows on the first few rows. It's possible that someone could even take the altar flowers to the reception site and you could use them there. You may also want to consider some candelabras if your church allows candles. You should be able to get them from your florist or any rental place.

Definitely check with the church, as pp said some churches are rather restrictive in what they allow. My church is rather relaxed on what they allow. I am having eleborate candelabrum. I just love the idea of candles during the ceremony and it is going to make the church so romantic. No pew bows and just a simple altar decoration.

There is an article called "Floral Trends" on Weddingwishes.com written by a florist with ideas about decorating at the church. You might want to read it-there is a lot of helpful information in the article. The web address is: www.weddingwishes.com/wedding/Articles_and_Information/3902.html
Don't forget that you are looking at the church without any people in it. Once you get the bridesmaids in there with their beautiful dresses, the groomsmen decked out in their tuxedos and don't forget about you in your beautiful dress, it will be quite a beautiful scene. While the ceremony is the most important part, you will be spending most of your time at the reception. I like the idea of using decorations at the church at the reception site too. There is no reason why you can't do that. I am taking my altar flowers to the reception site. The will be beautiful in both locations. Best of luck to you
